On Saturday, May 6th, the Castleton ICF went to the Abilities expo in New Jersey to witness the latest adaptive equipment and most current technologies available to individuals with disabilities.

What an adventure! Shanell, Stacy, and Derick ventured out and visited a number of vendors and industry representatives, familiarizing themselves with “what’s what” in the disability technology industry. Everyone got to test out a variety of gadgets as well, which was exciting for all.

“Derick was so excited to visit the expo and see and test out some of latest technologies,” said Jessyca Spillane, Coordinator of Operations. “He really enjoyed the exercise bicycle!”

Derick continued to spearhead the days effort, leading the way through every vendor. Shanell and Stacy spent the day visiting with the vendors and socializing with other folks in attendance.

Jessyca added, “Shanell smiled the entire day and Stacy was looking around at everything. Derick stated over and over what a great day he was having!”

For nearly 40 years, the Abilities Expo has been the go-to source for the community of people with disabilities, their families, seniors, veterans and healthcare professionals. Focused on opening your eyes to new technologies, new possibilities, new solutions and new opportunities to change your life, the expo is a great opportunity to discover ability-enhancing products and services.

All of the staff in attendance helped to make the outing a special day for all, including the Residence Manager, Tanesha, Physical Therapist Marge and the Occupational Therapist.

“The experience was so interesting and educational, it was great for all involved,” noted Jessyca.
